Today we traveled through the rest of Nevada, Utah and into Southern Wyoming.  Almost instantly when we crossed into Utah we noticed the salt.  Sometimes it was hard to tell if it was solid ground or salt water.  It looked the same!  We were kind of glad to see the mountains, and rocks.  Didn't see much green at all.  The mountains ranged from a beach sand color, to dark brown and red dirt.  Looked like someone drew a line and the scenery changed....and then back again.  Apparently this must give a hypnotizing effect cause there were many road signs that read "Drowsy drivers cause crashes.  drowsy drivers pull over."  As we got close to Salt Lake City,  We started seeing some grass and trees.  (And more cars than we'd seen in the last 2 days.)  We wanted to do some sight seeing there, but the traffic was so heavy we were locked in the wrong lane.  We had gone through it before we realized.  Guess I'll have to find some post cards!  We stopped for the night in Rock Springs.  Also we saw a group of strange looking birds along the side of the road  Any one know what they are?

  1. Again beautiful pictures. I consulted with Gary and Sam about the birds. Sam was sure he knew what they were but has not told me yet. Gary isn't sure but if Dr. Mehl comes over I will ask him. He is the bird man. Have fun!
